Download help
Find the right link, understand an error and locate the file after saving.
Copy the media link, not the profile
Open the individual Story, Highlight, Reel or post, then find its sharing options and copy its link. On a browser, the address bar may provide the media URL. Menu names vary between app versions. The link needs the media ID; a username alone is not supported.
For a carousel, send the same post link to the photo tool for still images or the video tool for clips. Each tool selects only its relevant file type.
What the error message means
- Paste a valid public Instagram Story, Highlights, Reel or post link, then try again.
- Copy the complete https:// Instagram media link. Usernames, profile addresses, audio pages and other websites are not accepted.
- This link does not match the selected tool. Choose the Story, Highlights, Reels, Photo or Video tool for your link.
- Match the link to its tool: /stories/ for Stories, /stories/highlights/ for collections, /reel/ for Reels, and /p/ for feed posts.
- This account is private. Only content from public accounts can be saved.
- This tool cannot access private content. Do not provide a password or session cookie to try to unlock it.
- This story has expired. Active stories are available for 24 hours. Try a Highlights link instead.
- Check whether the Story still opens. If it was saved to a public Highlight, use the current collection link instead of the expired Story URL.
- This media is unavailable or has been removed. Check that the public post or Highlight still exists and try another link.
- Check whether the public post or collection still exists. Removed content cannot be restored from an old address.
- The download service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in a moment.
- Wait briefly and try the current link again. This message can indicate provider trouble or capacity limits; it does not prove the account is private or the Story expired.
- This request is taking longer than expected. Please try again in a moment.
- The request exceeded the interface's waiting time. Retry later rather than repeatedly submitting while a request is still loading.
A preview appears, but saving fails
Previewing and downloading are different requests. The returned CDN address can expire or block a browser request even after a preview has appeared. Resolve the original Instagram link again and try saving one file. If the result offers Open original file after an error, that opens the source file; your browser controls any further save options.
Single-file browser downloads have a 100 MiB limit. Browser ZIP creation allows up to 50 files, at most 30 MiB per file and 120 MiB in total. Large collections or weak connections can exceed these limits. Saving one returned file at a time may help.
Save to iPhone, Android or desktop
iPhone and iPad
Check the browser’s downloads and the Files app. Open the saved photo or video, then use Share and the available save action to add it to Photos. A file must be downloaded successfully before it can be imported; available options depend on its format and your device.
Android
Check the browser’s Downloads or your Files app. Open the saved file and use the available gallery import or move action if needed. A Gallery app may not automatically display every downloaded file.
Desktop
Use the browser’s downloads list to find the file, then open it with an image viewer or compatible video player. Save file downloads media; the browser’s Save page action saves a web page instead.
These are general save paths, not a guarantee of every device’s behavior. No app installation is required by SaveIGStory.
Open a Save all ZIP
- Select Save all when several files have been returned.
- Find
saveigstory.zipin Files or Downloads. - Use Extract or Uncompress, then open the separate images and video clips.
A ZIP is not a photo or a combined movie. It does not automatically go into a gallery, and it includes only the returned files rather than a guaranteed complete account archive.
